As well as being the founder and publisher of the press, she is the one responsible for all the cover designs. She is a hands-on team member that nurtures her authors, and insists that she be the one to sort through the query letters before passing them on for further consideration. Being an author and all-round creative person herself, she understands the needs of her kind. This is why she started a private VLP group on Facebook where members (authors and staff only) can support eachother and their work. Jessica has worked years to establish an extremely friendly and happy environment at Vine Leaves Press in order to motivate creativity and productivity. She got her wish. If you become a VLP author, you become a part of a loyal and enthusiastic family of book lovers that will bend over backwards to help you out.

It's a bonus that Amie finds great satisfaction in helping to shape books from the conception of an idea to a physical product in readers' hands, because her role as publishing director does just that. Amie McCracken not only typesets and formats all the books herself, but she is responsible for creating and co-ordinating the publishing schedule. She is a VLP author's liaison for all questions big and small. Without Amie, we would not be able to keep things organized and running smoothly.

Emily Reading, Assistant Designer |
Emily’s first venture into cover design was as an author and a customer. Taking on-board feedback, guidance and help from many talented and wonderful designers, she ventured into the world of book cover design with keen enthusiasm. Drawing on her extensive experience of Photoshop starting in her teenage years, and studying the principles of colour, artistic theories, composition, and illustration, she continues to put into practice new concepts and ideas. Working with 3D models, illustrations, and stock images, Emily honed her skills creating pre-mades before joining the Jessica Bell Design team, and then later Vine Leaves. Her degree in engineering, on the surface, may not seem relevant but it helped to establish a keen eye for detail and an in-depth understanding of the importance of researching the markets, trends, and best selling practices that help covers to sell books.

Alana King, Social Media Manager |
As well as being a copyeditor and proofreader for the press, Alana is responsible for compiling and creating our monthly round-up newsletters and managing our social media accounts. After earning a B.A. in English from Texas State University and an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from the University of Memphis, Alana King is currently working on a Ph.D. in Literature at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her research interests include American Literature and History, the literature and history of marginalized and non-mainstream populations, film studies and history, and war and genocide studies.Outside of school, she also proofreads and edits blog posts, articles, and manuscripts and also serves in readership or editorial positions for lit journals and publications.
